Shoppers save gas money by clicking! According to the New York Times, more Americans are trading in their car keys for a keyboard. Gap and Victoria’s Secret are experiencing double-digit sales growth at their shopping Web sites, creating a surprising bright spot during an otherwise gloomy time for sales. Free shipping seems to be the strategy that retailers are taking as well as offering additional incentives (reward points and coupons) to generate sales. Retailers are hoping the Web will drive in-store business too, whether to return an online purchase or to get free shipping on goods at the store.
