Sunday Style: Must Have's and The Match Up

The New York Times Style section did a piece today on timeless, must have items. Fashiontary agrees on all but one of them and we have added one more.
1) Jackie O style sunglasses-whether you're hiding from the paparazzi (ha!) or want to hide dark circles or redness (the real truth) then this is your timeless must have. The article recommended Tom Ford's Whitney sunglasses [$320]; Fashiontary recommends Kate Spade's Rae sunglasses [$168] which is a fraction of the cost.
2) The next item was drawstring sweatpants by Splendid [$95]; Fashiontary agrees that drawstring sweatpants are a must have around the apartment. We love coming home and changing to cook dinner in a comfy pair of pants. Fashiontary thinks spending $95 is ridiculous but would purchase this very similar pair at Victoria's Secret for $39.
3) Another item they listed as a timeless accessory was Wolford Tights. If you are looking for a very special pair of tights, Wolford is the place but the prices are very very high. Fashiontary recommends We Love Colors for a diverse selection of colors and styles for a fraction of the price.
4) According to the article, Goyard tote bags have gone from fad to staple. Fashiontary loves them but is not quite sure about spending $1,065 for the large or $960 for the medium [available at Bergdorf Goodman]; you can add an additional $150-$470 for custom monogramming. When we went to the Bergdorf's website to check out their selection, it was not available online. I'm wondering how many sales they just potentially lost due to this oversight. Oops.
5) Another item they highlighted was Alice and Olivia's wide leg pant [approximately $242]; Fashiontary thinks you can find really amazing wide leg pants for less at J-Crew [small selection at this time] and Ann Taylor which have positioned themselves to become more chic.
6) They also said Jimmy Choo's Peony Boot in black or brown was a must have. I have several issues with this. First, I have a problem spending $885 on boots, in addition, the heel height is 3 1/2 inches. After hitting 30 any shoe over 3 inches just hurts. We've found 2-2 1/2 inch heels work much better for us. Fashiontary purchased a very similar pair of boots from Bloomingdales [private label] last year for $40 via sale.
7) The article recommended the empire waist cardigan and pullovers by Vince but Fashiontary doesn't think this is a must have, instead we recommend the fitted crewneck [$138] or v-neck sweater [$59.50] by J-Crew
Fahiontary thinks they failed to include one more must have:
8) The one and only Burberry Scarf [$250 for cashmere]; there are no scarfs that have ever compared to this AND it dresses up any inexpensive coat you may have. It is the classic timeless staple.
