Attention Theory Lovers - Who Wants 30% Off?

Attention all you Theory lovers, who wants 30% off year round current merchandise? This is NOT a trick question!

Fashiontary loves Theory but hates paying retail. So we were very excited to visit the Theory Company Store this week in its new location on Fifth Avenue and 20th in Manhattan. Theory has sold discounted clothes through their Company Store for some time, but along with the new location they have increased their discounts and updated their stock. The discounts now run from 30-50% (used to be 20%) and they are stocking current goods, just two weeks after department store deliveries.

When Fashiontary visited this week, the store was empty and the salespeople were so excited to have customers that we got the royal treatment. Fashiontary considered keeping this little secret to ourselves, but we’re afraid that if more people don’t start going, Theory will shut down the store.  So, Fashiontary urges everyone to go check out the Theory Company Store, details below.

139 fifth avenue 2nd floor, NY, NY 10010

WTF! Since When Is Victoria's Secret Unaffordable?

Fashiontary is outraged! Since when is Victoria’s Secret’s (VS) clothing (specifically dresses) so overpriced? I was catching-up last night reading my favorite retail catalogs and noticed that VS has really increased their clothing prices for this season. Victoria’s Secret is selling dresses and tee’s for more money than J-Crew – WTF!

Fashiontary thought that Victoria’s Secret was supposed to be the affordable alternative for fun chic dresses! So Fashiontary wants to know, in this economy – what are they thinking?

Foley & Corinna Goes Mainstream!

Fashiontary loves discovering new designers! It is so exciting to find a new style that no one else has or, even better, that just a few people whose taste you admire have discovered. But when that designer and their style gets so popular that you start to see it everywhere, you know it is time to move on to the next hot thing.

We have noticed recently Foley and Corinna is being sold @ Bloomingdales front and center. It is not something we like to see because then the styles are everywhere but we understand this is how designers cash in.

What do you think - should designers stay underground and sell exclusively to a few super cool places or go to main-stream department stores?

DKNY Designers Split for Banana?

Is Banana Republic stealing designers from Donna Karan? Fashiontary doesn't know if this is true but the styles being offered look so similar to Donna Karan's DKNY lines from previous seasons. Banana Republic's lack of uniqueness has caused the them to gain "inspiration" from others such as DVF (although who isn't inspired by DVF?) We are wondering if anyone else has noticed this? If so, why DKNY - they are certainly not the "it" designer anymore.
